NewsBritney Spears loses custody of her childrenBritney Spears has lost custody of her kids, after a ruling by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott M. Gordon today (October 1). In a hearing this afternoon, the singer was ordered to turn over custody of Jayden James (1) and Sean Preston (2) to ex-husband Kevin Federline by Wednesday (October 3). Federline will have sole custody "until further order of the court." As previously reported, Federline's lawyer went to court today alleging that Spears was driving without a California drivers license. Last Friday, the court found that Spears was a "habitual" user of drugs and she was ordered to attend counseling, meet with a parent coach and submit random drug tests twice a week. Phil Spector trial: Day 53 Phil Spector's lead lawyer, Bruce Cutler, abruptly announced today (August 27) that he is leaving the famed music producer's case. Cutler, who has frequently been missing in action during the trial so he could film a television show, cited "a difference of opinion between Mr. Spector and me on strategy." Cutler told Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler that he had originally intended to return for the closing arguments, but changed his mind, saying, "There's nothing I can do for Mr. Spector. I can no longer effectively represent him." When the judge asked Spector if Cutler's statements were accurate, Spector replied, "That is correct." Defence attorney Roger Rosen will now take over as the lead lawyer in the case, reports the Associated Press. Spector is accused of murdering actress Lana Clarkson at his Los Angeles mansion on February 3, 2003. The defence contends the actress' death was suicide. Testimony in the case is expected to end this week. Final arguments are set for September 5. |
